As an artist my most preferred medium is pencil. Pencil in any form like coloured pencils, pastel pencils etc appeals to me the most. I simply love it. So sometimes I decide to just focus on it for its emotional appeal and the fact that I dont get tired of it easily. Infact, I barely have my mood swings with them. However, as much as I try to steady my mind on them other mediums make surel to pop-up their heads in the form of my own paintings hung up on the walls of my house. One look and I melt. I just cant desert them =( So, well, I think I should give up the idea of exclusivity and instead give them all my unconditional love and affection.
Lately, I have been toying with the idea of trying my hand at Pastel Pencils. They seemed 'exclusive' and I really needed to look around to get my hands on them. I haven't really possessed them yet but I do know their address now. Mercifully, its within the city limits so good for me!!! Hopefully some sketch may emerge out of it soon.
At the moment I just tried my hands at silk colours. Painting on 'Ahimsa' silk was a lot of fun. Its just a start and I am still trying to figure out the chemistry between the fabric and the colours. And its pretty interesting to say the least. Fabric pens too worked their wonders on the material and it was quite an interesting combination and kept me on the edge. Its not an easy task to handle the temperamental personalities!! But I think I am managing. So far so good.
Besides, trying out a few patterns both symmetrical and abstract I decided to paint the traditional 'leher(waves)' pattern quite common to Indian traditional-wear. To my delight it turned out pretty bold and dynamic. I intend to make a purse out of it. As soon as its done I shall upload it here. I plan to make it an all season purse to protect the fabric and allow an uninhibited use without the worry of damage.
I am pretty keen on taking project-based work. I would like to work with different mediums on various surfaces such as camvas, ceramic, paper, wood and so on so that the art can be personalized keeping in mind personal needs.
Well, thats the update for now. I see you'll soon..
